Frequently Asked Questions

What is Sheep Placenta?

The placenta is an organ unique to mammals and connects the developing fetus to the womb, supplying oxygen and nutrients to the fetus inside the mother’s abdomen. After being delivered with the fetus, the placenta is usually discarded or eaten by the mother (in some animals).

Sheep placenta, like all mammalian placentae, develops within the uterus of pregnant sheep providing oxygen and nutrients to the lamb. It is harvested when the lamb is born.

Why is Sheep Placenta Used?

Sheep placenta is favored because it is easily harvested, the sheep, being one of the most timid of animals. Of particular interest, is the fact that sheep have a strong immune system which on extrapolation into placental tissue, is used to justify the use of sheep placenta for its anti-inflammatory and anti-ageing properties. Ageing have been closely associated with increased inflammation and oxidative damage to various tissues. The anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties of placenta provide effective anti-ageing, while also providing energy and vitality due to its rich vitamin and hormonal content when used in stem cell facial concentrate.

It is also acceptable to all religions, particularly the Muslim and Hindu community who avoid pig and cow placenta.

What are the Active Ingredients of Sheep Placenta?

Sheep placenta is rich in vitamins and bioactive substances such as RNA, DNA, peptides, hyaluronic acid, amino acids, proteins, lipids, and enzymes such as superoxide dismutase (SOD) which are responsible for its various beneficial effects in stem cell facial concentrate. These active ingredients induce an anabolic effect and assist in energy production, improving age-related physical functions. This improvement in physical function prevents undue stress and depression leading to improvement of general health and wellbeing.

There is potential for transfer of passive immunity in the form of immunoglobulins or antibodies which normally traverse the placenta during intrauterine life. Placenta extract still contain these antibodies and supposedly boost the immune system of the consumer when using stem cell facial.

Epidermal growth factor (EGF), transforming growth factor beta (TGF-beta), vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), senescent cell activating factors (SCAFs) and CD31+ are all chemicals that promote cell growth, healing and tissue repair.

Placenta is also rich in hormones such as gonadotropins such as estrogen and progesterone, which significantly restore hormonal balance, improving sexual energy and function. It reduces contraction of the uterus and provides laxity to the uterine tissues.

Although the mechanisms by which sheep placenta improves general health and wellbeing are unknown, it is clear that it has a beneficial effect in providing energy and vitality.

What are some of the uses of Sheep Placenta in stem cell facial?

Sheep placenta is the most common type of placenta used for cosmetic stem cell facial or medicinal purposes. Sheep placenta has been used to promote general health and wellbeing besides its highly acclaimed anti-ageing properties. Some of the health benefits of sheep placenta include:

  • Its anti-ageing properties rejuvenate the skin giving it a younger look and feel. This is done by preventing or delaying the appearance of freckles, pigmentation and dark spots. It also promotes skin hydration and elasticity thereby preventing the development of wrinkles and sagging.
  • It potentially improves your immune system by passive transfer of immunoglobulins or antibodies
  • It improves metabolism and increases energy and vitality.
  • It has antioxidant properties that protects cells from damage. This prevents uneven pigmentation of skin due to its melanin regulating property.
  • It helps in detoxification of the liver by removing harmful chemicals.
  • Its rich hormonal content helps in regulating menstruation, menstrual pain and menopausal symptoms.
  • The presence of hyaluronic acid and other growth factors result in strong hair and nails.
  • Sheep placenta has healing properties that have been effectively used in treating ulcers, pelvic inflammatory disease, and even heart diseases.
  • Chorionic gonadotropins from the placenta have been used in the treatment of obesity, insomnia, depression, asthma, gastritis, neurosis, heart damage, hyperlipidemias, eczemas, glaucoma and alcoholism.
  • It is an aphrodisiac that has been used since ages and supposedly increases sexual energy, although its beneficial effect is not verified by research.
  • It has anti-scarring effect and promotes tissue healing when used regularly for dressing.
  • It helps in female infertility and blocked fallopian tube because of its hormonal and enzymatic components.

What are the Risks and Side Effects of Sheep Placenta?

Side effects due to sheep placenta are mainly due to the hormonal upheaval because of the high concentration of estrogen and progesterone. Side effects due to other active ingredients are rare, if any.

Sheep placenta has been used since ancient times and to good effect. Despite little or no side-effects seen with sheep placenta, it is important to consider your source of sheep placenta for consumption or local application.
